This is a volunteer project we did for the American Cancer Society in 1995. My Grandfather had passed away from cancer and the American Cancer Society gave him a lot of help during his battle with the illness. We were delighted to have the opportunity to give back a little.

The American Cancer Society’s Gloucester County office had a lawn area between its office and the highway that they were unable to maintain because of time and cost. As a result the area had become an eyesore, burning out each Summer.

The cancer center had given my family so much support during my Grandfather’s illness, that I wanted to give something back, and this was an opportunity to do that. We donated our time and, along with generous contributions of materials from local garden centers, replaced the grassy area with mulch and shrubs.
